Tyson Blaser is a junior and Honor student at Rockridge High School where he maintains a 4.59 GPA. In each of his three years of High School, Tyson has received the Academic All Conference award. To be eligible for this honor, you must participate in three sports and carry a 4.0 GPA. Tyson serves on the Student Council, attends several Leadership seminars, and is currently Vice President of his class.
Tyson graduated from the Quad City Hitmen having helped qualify his teams for 7 National Tournaments. He helped lead the Hitmen to two 5th place finishes, a final four, a 2nd place finish, and a USSSA National Title. Over the course of those years, Tyson garnered numerous All-Tournament and Most Valuable Player honors. There is no doubt Tyson is one of our most decorated players ever to wear a Hitmen uniform. His talent and commitment to the Hitmen program made Tyson the first recipient of the Brian P. Rangel Player of the Year award.
At Rockridge High School, Tyson has started on the Varsity baseball team since his freshmen year where he has served as team captain the past two seasons. As a freshmen, Tyson was named to the All Western Illinois team and led the first Rockridge High School baseball team in history to the State Tournament. He has been awarded All Area as chosen by the Rock Island Argus two years in a row, and he garnered Best Defensive Player honors the past two seasons.
Tyson also started on the Varsity Basketball team since his freshmen year where he has served as team captain the past two seasons. He was named the Most Valuable Player three years in a row, receiving honors for most assists, rebounds, and steals in each of his last three seasons. He was one of only two sophomores named to the fourth team All State. Tyson was selected to the All State Team his Junior year and named to the All Area Team chosen by the Rock Island Argus the past three seasons. In 2004, Tyson was named the All Area Player of the Year and a finalist for the Quad Cities Athlete of the Year chosen by the Quad City times. On January 15th, 2005, Tyson scored his 1000th point at Rockridge.
In football, Tyson served as team captain in 2003 and 2004. He was named Most Valuable Player the past two seasons, selected to the All Conference team the past two years, and received All Area Team honors his last two seasons.
Tyson hopes to continue his academic and athletic career at the next level. It's highly doubtful, but we wish him the best.
On behalf of the Quad City Hitmen Baseball Association, the coaches and players, it is my pleasure to welcome Tyson Blaser into the Quad City Hitmen Hall of Fame.
