Ren Epperly

Ren started with the Quad City Hitmen in 1986 as an 8-year-old and played for the Hitmen through age 14. He then started for the Sherrard High School baseball team throughout his high school career and was a three-year varsity starter. As a Hitmen, he played first base, right field and pitched. Same positions were played when he began his high school career and is now primarily Sherrard's first baseman.
Ren and his Hitmen team enjoyed outstanding baseball success winning the 11-year-old National Championship in Kansas City.
They received a 2nd place finish at Nationals as 14 year olds, a 5th place finish as 12 and 13 year-olds, and 4th place as 10 year-olds. They also won numerous tournaments, often playing teams a year
older than they were which was often the case with local teams as well.
Ren was chosen to the National All-tournament team as a 13 and 14 year old and led the team in RBI's and batting average as a 13 year old. He also received the Brian Rangel Sportsmanship Award in 2002.
Ren and his Sherrard team, which includes several Hitmen players, have also enjoyed alot of success winning the Conference
and Regional Championships in 2005. Last year, Ren was selected
as a Rock Island Argus 2005 Boys Area Baseball All-Star Honorable Mention recipient and led his team in fielding percentage.
He has also been an Honor Student at Sherrard High School all four years and named a USAA National Honor Student. He has
maintained at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average and plans to attend the University of Iowa in the Fall.
Ren is also a valuable asset to this WBSA complex and capable of handling any of the work that needs to be done. His parents are Jim and Pam Epperly of Milan.
